How to Check Mir Pay and Mobile Payments in Russia
Mir Pay is useful only with a supported device, a Russian Mir card, and current bank support. Do not treat phone payment as a full replacement for cash or a plastic card.

Fast path
Do this in order
Start here if you only need the order. Detailed notes are lower on this page.
- Step 1
Check whether you have the right card
If you do not have a Russian Mir card, start with the bank or payment route first. Mir Pay does not replace getting a card.
Tip: Do not use someone else's card or bank account.
- Step 2
Open official sources
Open the Mir Pay page and your bank's page. Compare device, card, and installation requirements.
Tip: Do not install an APK from a random chat or mirror site.
- Step 3
Add the card only in an official app
Follow Mir Pay or bank instructions. Never share codes, login, PIN, CVV, or remote phone access.
Tip: If the bank requires extra checks, complete them only in the official channel.
- Step 4
Make a small test payment
Test it at a normal shop or metro gate, then keep a cash or plastic-card backup anyway.
Tip: One successful test does not mean every terminal will work.
- Step 5
Plan for failure
If your phone battery dies, the app does not open, or a terminal refuses contactless payment, switch to your backup route.
Tip: For your first day in Russia, phone payment should not be the only plan.

What you need

Common traps
Assuming Mir Pay works with any foreign card
Check the card, bank, and payment system. In practice, you usually need a Russian route.
Installing from an unofficial APK
Use the official site, your bank, or a trusted app-store route.
Leaving cash behind because one phone payment worked
Keep a backup. Terminals, bank checks, internet, or the phone itself can fail.
