Pick two or three legs, not every city
Build the trip around real transport legs you can verify on the travel day. A short first route is more reliable than trying to force the whole Golden Ring into one fragile sequence.
A practical route plan for the Golden Ring: choose a small number of real legs from Moscow, verify RZD, Central PPK, bus-station, Vladimir-Suzdal, and Yaroslavl sources, prepare rubles and offline station names, and avoid building a trip from old fixed-city lists or tour screenshots.

Write down the exact Moscow railway or bus station, the destination station in Russian, and the next local transfer. Many mistakes start with choosing a city name before checking where the train or bus actually arrives.
Use RZD for long-distance trains, Central PPK for relevant express and commuter routes, Moscow Transport for intercity bus station anchors, and local bus-station sources for regional legs.
Suzdal has its own bus-station transfer from Vladimir. Save the Vladimir railway station, Vladimir bus station, Suzdal bus station, and return route before you leave Moscow.
Best for
A first Golden Ring route where the rail leg and local bus leg can be checked separately.
Check RZD or Central PPK for Moscow-Vladimir rail options, then use the Vladimir tourist and bus-station sources for the Vladimir-Suzdal leg. Do not hardcode old bus times or fares.
Best for
Travellers who want a larger overnight city or a rail-based route before smaller towns.
Use RZD or Central PPK for train availability and Visit Yaroslavia for city context. For local buses or transport payment, check the current Yaroslavl transport source before relying on a card or app.
Best for
Routes where a bus is simpler than a rail plus local transfer.
Use Moscow Transport to confirm the bus-station anchor, then check the carrier or regional bus-station source for the exact departure, document, luggage, payment, and refund rules.
Russiable is useful for spotting demand, but public guidance should rely on current official route, rail, bus, and regional sources. Treat older lists as inspiration, not itinerary proof.
Foreign-issued cards may fail in Russia, and smaller station legs can be less forgiving than Moscow. Keep cash for bus windows, local rides, food, toilets, and backup transfers.
For a first multi-city route, choose a confirmed overnight city, save the accommodation address in Russian, and leave enough time for check-in, food, and the return station.
Check the transport source again on the travel day. Weather, holidays, roadworks, sold-out trains, and local timetable changes can turn a good plan into a missed connection.
