Check the current Aeroexpress schedule first. It is useful when it connects your airport to a rail terminal with a simple metro transfer.
Metro plus surface transport
Best for
Light luggage, daytime arrival, and lower cost.
Moscow Transport lets you check routes, timetables, fares, airport links, night buses, and Troika information in one place.
Taxi or ride-hailing
Best for
Late arrivals, children, heavy bags, or an address far from rail routes.
Keep cash available in case app payment is not ready. Confirm the plate number before entering the car.
Move Around
Use Troika when you will ride often
Troika is the reusable Moscow transport card. Buy or top up only through official transport channels and check current fares before adding a large balance.
Treat Moscow as a transfer city
Rail terminals, airports, metro rings, MCC, and MCD lines create many route choices. The fastest option is often not the most obvious from a map screenshot.
Download offline maps
Save your hotel area, nearest metro station, and one backup route. If mobile data is unstable, you still need to show the address and walk the last blocks.
Keep documents private
Hotels and regulated services may need to see documents. Drivers, random helpers, and street sellers do not need photos of your passport.
