How to download apps safely in Russia

What to do when Google Play or App Store does not show a Russian app: official website, RuStore for Android, web fallback, and developer checks.

  1. Step 1

    Find the official channel

    Start from the service website or official RuStore page. For RuStore use: www.rustore.ru/help/en/users/start/app-install.

    Tip: If a page looks like a brand copy or asks for unusual permissions, stop.

  2. Step 2

    Check the developer name

    On the app page, check the developer name: for example, ООО «ЯНДЕКС» for Yandex Maps and Yandex Go, or SPb GKU Organizer of Transportation for Podorozhnik.

    Tip: Do not install look-alike apps if the developer does not match.

  3. Step 3

    Use a web fallback if install fails

    For maps, open yandex.ru/maps or 2gis.ru in the browser. For taxi, use only the official Yandex Go website or app.

    Tip: On iPhone, do not install IPA files from unofficial sources.
